CT Scan of the ENT Organs
Computed Tomography (CT) of the ENT organs is recommended in cases where the patient experiences:
- Frequent or prolonged inflammation of the paranasal sinuses (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, ethmoiditis, sphenoiditis) that does not respond to treatment or frequently recurs
- Nasal congestion without an obvious cause, which may be associated with a deviated nasal septum, polyps, or other anatomical changes
- Suspected tumors in the nasal cavity or paranasal sinuses
- Consequences of trauma, including fractures of the nasal bones or more complex injuries affecting breathing
- Allergic rhinitis or other allergic conditions accompanied by prolonged swelling of the nasal mucosa
- Headaches of unknown origin, especially when pathology of the paranasal sinuses is suspected
- Snoring or sleep-related breathing disturbances associated with structural changes in the ENT organs
What Does CT of the ENT Organs and Paranasal Sinuses Show?
The examination provides the physician with accurate information about:
- The condition of the nasal septum, including deviations that may impair breathing
- Changes in the paranasal sinuses, such as fluid accumulation, inflammatory processes, and abnormal formations
- Polyps, cysts, and other tumors, including their size, location, and impact on surrounding tissues
- Traumatic injuries, including fractures of the nasal bones and other structural abnormalities
- Soft tissue abnormalities, including mucosal swelling associated with inflammation or allergic reactions
